Alberto Giacometti

Born in 1901 in Borgonovo in Val Bregaglia (Switzerland), died in 1966 in Chur (Switzerland).

Moving to Paris in 1922, Giacometti frequented Antoine Bourdelle's studio in Montparnasse, then discovered Cubism, Surrealism, African art, and Greek statuary, drawing inspiration from them in his early works.
His sculptures were made of plaster, sometimes painted, or cast in bronze, a technique he practiced until the end of his life.
