André Derain

Born in 1880 in Chatou, died in 1954 in Garches (France)

A Fauvist painter and sculptor, André Derain was François Hugo's best man at his wedding.
Together they enjoyed experimenting with ceramic objects, among other things.
He also created several small lead sculptures: a Faun, a Cretan woman, and several masks, which he asked him to cast in gold for editions of eight.
Each piece, however, is different because it is hand-hammered.
