Andres Serrano

Born in 1950 in New York (United States). Lives and works in New York.

Born to parents of Honduran and Cuban descent. Photographer known for his photographs and portraits of bodies.
Raised in a strict Catholic religious environment, his work focuses primarily on social issues and questions related to gender and religion, while always maintaining a strong connection with European culture and ancient art, which he also collects. Some of Serrano's works have provoked rejection in Catholic and far-right circles.

This gold Crucifix Ring, created by the Bermudes workshop in Paris in 2015, represents for the artist, through the cross, the banal object found at any flea market, which is in reality the worst instrument of torture.
