Carlos Cruz-Diez

Born in 1923 in Caracas, Venezuela. Died in Paris on July 27, 2019.

He is one of the major figures and leading representatives of optical art.
His early work was part of the "Kinetic Movement" of the 1950s and 1960s.
His artistic thinking changed the notions governing the perception of color in art.
Carlos Cruz-Diez based his approach on color conceived as an autonomous reality, devoid of anecdotes, evolving in real time and space without any aid from form or even a support.

This necklace, created in collaboration with the Elisabetta Cipriani Gallery in London, is made of white gold and black rhodium, acrylic, and colored UV pigments.
