Enrico Castellani

Born in 1930 in Castelmasa (Italy), died in 2017 in Viterbo (Italy)

Castellani is one of the most representative of the latest generation of artists in the ZERO group.
Since the late 1950s, his work has been characterized by what he calls "Superficies," with its astonishing relief structures. These are the result of a technique unique to him, which consists of stretching the canvas over a canvas placed on a studded surface.
The resulting structure becomes a geometric composition depending on the order in which the studs are inserted.

For this bracelet, the artist used a burin, a tool he used 10 years ago for his works on paper.
With this instrument, he worked directly on a sheet of aluminum, creating a geometric relief, then cast in gold from the previously obtained wax.
The relief obtained on this piece of jewelry alternates between hollows and bumps, light and shadow.
