Gino Severini

Born in 1883 in Cortona (Italy) and died in 1966 in Paris (France).

An Italian painter, he began his career as a student of Giacomo Balla and joined the Futurist movement in Paris in 1910.

A very skilled draftsman, his work combines science and art, rigor and imagination.
He showed a keen interest in chronophotography and, to oppose the mimicry of traditional painting, he focused on decomposing the different stages of the movement.
After 1920, he devoted himself primarily to sacred art and mosaics.
