Gio Pomodoro

Born in 1930 in Orciano di Pesaro, died in 2002 in Milan (Italy).

Close to Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism, he used materials related to space and nature for his sculptures, blending forms he found in antique pieces with modern mechanical geometry.
He enjoyed using bronze, gold, marble, shells, and plastic, often in collaboration with his brother Arnaldo.
His first jewelry pieces, created in 1950, were inspired by Byzantine culture, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance.
In the 1960s, he worked with his brother-in-law Giancarlo Montebello to produce small editions in Milan.
