Born in Hengelo, Netherlands in 1939
The humble potato, which grows in the vegetable garden of Jacqueline de Jong's estate in the Bourbonnais region of France, has been patient before being transformed into a work of art. In fact, in 2001, it appeared in its natural form in a series of paintings created in the spirit of Malevich, like the peasant woman's hair in 'Potato Hair.' This marked the beginning of a dialogue with the Russian artist through the paintings 'Harvest' and potatoes.
The most recent creation featuring potatoes is a series 'Pommes de Jong,' for which the potatoes and their shoots dried very slowly over a period of two years and were then immersed in a platinum or gold bath to become jewelry.
