Jacques Villéglé

Born in Quimper in 1926 (France)

Considered the leading poster artist, Jacques Villeglé is a visual artist belonging to the Nouveau Realism movement, founded in Paris in 1960.
He first studied painting and drawing at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes, where he met his close associate Raymond Hains, before studying architecture.
He then began collecting objects and later torn posters.
He is known for the invention of his socio-political alphabet, in which he plays with symbolic letters.
