Born in 1936 in Piraeus (Greece), died in 2017 in Rome (Italy).
Lives and works in Italy since 1956. He is one of the artists of what the critic Germano Celant defined as Arte Povera.
His installations often become performances. His work combines painting and sculpture, architecture and music, theater and dance. He primarily uses raw materials, of industrial or organic origin (coal, fire, wool, stone, wood, coffee, etc.) to create often monumental installations.
His works depict opposing forces such as duration and ephemerality, softness and hardness, living and deadness.
This is his interpretation of the relationship between nature and culture.
This ring is a cast of his own lips. It was created in collaboration with the Elisabetta Cipriani Gallery.
