Jaume Plensa

Born in 1955 in Barcelona (Spain). Lives and works in Barcelona.

As a young man, he worked at the Henry Moore Foundation and the Calder studio in Saché.
Today, his favorite themes are the representation of the diversity of the human figure and the languages that connect people. Ultimately, what interests Plensa is the relationship between words and the human body. His raw material is not that of a traditional sculptor. Instead of stone or bronze, he prefers to use glass, resin, alabaster, light, sound, water, digital images, and language. For Jaume Plensa, "sculpture ignores fiction. It is not a matter of materials but of emotion. It is not a matter of volume or space, but of time."
