Keith Haring

Born in 1958 in Reading, Pennsylvania (USA), died in 1990 in New York (USA).

He moved from Pittsburgh to New York in 1978, and began using the city as a canvas, initially drawing with chalk in the subway.
In 1982, he had his first one-man show in New York.
Immediately acclaimed by critics, he quickly became one of the most popular artists of his time.
Haring often collaborated with other luminaries among his contemporaries, such as Andy Warhol and William Burroughs.
Heavily involved in major humanitarian causes, he painted an anti-drug wall and completed over 50 public commissions, while also leading numerous workshops for children.

He died of AIDS on February 16, 1990, leaving behind a legacy of colorful graffiti/characters outlined in black that can be found all over the world.
