Lawrence Weiner

Born in the Bronx, NY in 1942

Since the 1960s, he has been a central figure in the new Conceptual Art movement.
His work often takes the form of typographic texts, and Weiner formulated his statement of intent in 1968:

"The artist can construct the work.
The work can be made.
The work cannot be built."
He uses a wide range of media in his work, including video, film, books, sound art, sculpture, performance, and graphic art.
