Michael Craig-Martin

Born in Dublin in 1941 (Ireland)

He studied at Yale University in the USA in 1961, alongside Alex Katz, Al Held, Brice Marden, Richard Serra, Chuck Close, and Robert Mangold.
He was strongly influenced by Josef Albers' course on color.

In the 1980s, while teaching in London, he is credited with drawing on the younger generation of YBAs (Young British Artists), starting with Damien Hirst.
His latest paintings depict everyday objects, whose outlines are first drawn with a black acrylic brush and then filled in with primary colors.
