Niki de Saint Phalle

Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002) was a French-American visual artist, painter, printmaker, sculptor, and film director.
In 1961, she was a member of the New Realists group, along with Gérard Deschamps, César, Mimmo Rotella, Christo, and Yves Klein.
She married Swiss artist Jean Tinguely for the second time in 1971. Together, they created the Stravinsky Fountain (in Paris) and Jean's creation, The Cyclops. Some of these works were created on her own initiative and with her own funds, such as the Tarot Garden in Tuscany.
She championed her partner's legacy by working for the opening of the Tinguely Museum in Basel.
