Robert Rauschenberg

Born in 1925 in Texas, died in 2008 in Captiva Island, Florida (United States).

A major American artist of the 20th century, his early paintings were monochrome; he later introduced collages of objects, blurring the line between painting and sculpture.

Through his performances, collages, scenography, choreography, sets and costumes, ceramics, carpets, and jewelry, Rauschenberg questions the distance between the art object and the everyday object and the artist's involvement in the possible dialogue.
