Orlan
Born in 1947 in Saint Etienne (France)
Expressing herself through multiple supports (paintings, sculpture, installations, performances, photography, numeric images and biotechnology, Orlan is one of the most famous “corporal artists” in the world.
Her work can be situated in diverse provocative contexts, which are legitimized by her personal engagement.
As early as the 1960s Orlan questioned the status of the body and the political, religious and social pressures that were applied to it.
