Mimmo Rotella

Born in 1918 in Catanzaro, died in 2006 in Milan (Italy)

After abandoning abstract painting, Mimmo Rotella created his first torn posters: leaflets torn from walls, transferred to canvas, where they were sometimes torn again in a "provocative gesture against society."
Following his meeting in Paris with the critic Pierre Restany, he joined the New Realists group alongside Raymond Hains, Jacques Villeglé, and François Dufrêne.
He created a few limited-edition pieces of jewelry with Marina Ruggieri Filippini in Verona.
