Max Ernst
Born in 1891 in Bruhl (Germany), deceased in 1976 in Paris (France)

A painter in Germany, he founded with Jean Arp the Dadaist movement in Cologne, before joining the artist community of Montparnasse.
In 1925, he invented the “rubbing” technique that lent life to imaginary shapes and figures, and later “scraping”. He also participated in surrealism.
He was married to Peggy Guggenheim and the artist Dorothy Tanning.
